Hong Kong + Macau Day 3

11/4/2011

Good Morning to all! I'm back in Hong Kong on my 2nd night and had a good sleep on my very small and cosy hotel room.

From now till 5pm i will be exploring HK on my own! Why 5pm? Because, my friend Estella will be joining me from SG! And.. we will be switching to another hotel.

After preparing myself and checked out of the hotel, it's now time for food and shopping! Hence, i walked from my hotel (WanChai) to the next station, Causeway Bay. It's not that far actually, 15-20mins walk i think.
Combed most of the major malls in Causeway Bay but bought nothing, but feeling super hungry!

I then came to this restaurant called: Spaghetti House at JP Plaza.

Angel Hair Pasta w Seafood in Lobster Sauce

I     ordered their Lunch Set Meal. Which consist of a spaghetti, a drink and a bowl of soup.

One thing i love drinking ice- lemon tea in HK (be it in Char Can Teng, Cafes, Restaurants): You are always being served pure tea with lemon slices, and a separated sugar syrup dispenser/ jug. Hence, you can add it to your preferred sweetness for the tea! (Unlike in SG, most of them are already pre-sweetened)

The first thing i did when they served me with the soup was to skim through it with the soup spoon. Seeing the pathetic ingredient (seaweed & more seaweed) in the soup, i was cursing inside: "WTH, just because it's a set meal, you are serving this kind of sub standard veggie soup?!"

I took the first sip, i took another, i proceeded on with the third. It was YUMMY!
(I'm sorry Soup, i shouldn't have said that you look like a pathetic sub- standard soup.)
It was smooth and creamy. Slowly leading me to the base of the soup bowl...

The Angel Hair pasta with seafood in lobster sauce was surprisingly nicer than what i expected by its look! The seafood were fresh and blended in well with the rich flavor lobster sauce! Angel Hair pasta was cooked to perfection softness and was complemented with the velvety lobster sauce. YUM YUM! :P

After the satisfying meal, i went back to the hotel to collect my luggages that i had left with the reception.

Me, looking super pissed.
As you can tell from the picture, i looked pissed. Because, my luggage was very heavy, the weather was warm, the streets were crowded and i had to carry these stuffs up and down the different flights of stairs of the MTR stations.

Finally able to board the train, heading to Tsim Sha Tsui, Kimberly Hotel.
Had a little hard time locating the hotel, as it was not along the main road, but at the inner streets, a slight distance from the MTR station. After making a few rounds, i was relieved to be suddenly 'enlightened' to walk into the inner street and at last saw the hotel.

Went up to the hotel lobby, having the mind set that there will sure be seats for me to rest while waiting for Estella.
Hotel lobby
There was a sofa with seating for 7 (if im not wrong) right in front of the reception counter. But it was all occupied by this group of French tourists whom were waiting for their tour guide to process their check in. As a result, i can only stand beside a pillar resting my bum lightly on my luggage.

WHY?! Why aren't Estella here yet... She's supposed to reach earlier in the afternoon. However, due to the delay in flight, she at last managed to reach the hotel at 5pm+.

Haha, so much different from my previous hotel.

Although Kimberly Hotel is a much bigger and established hotel then Mingle Place. I still think that the coziness and cleanliness Mingle Place is still more preferred.

After resting our feet, we headed to the MTR station and alighted at MongKok Station. Exit B2, in less than 5 mins walk, you can reached Langham Place Shopping Mall!

Langham Place- A 15-storey mall with integration of fashion, entertainment, dining and more shopping.

We went into a Chinese restaurant at level 4 called: Chee Kei (池記雲吞麵家)

Estella Ordered: Beef Noodle + Vegetable in Oyster Sauce 牛腩面+ 油菜
Me: Wanton noodle + Soy Beancurd 雲屯面 + 豆花

I have never like to eat this kind of Wanton noodle. Because, i find that the noodle has a very strong machinery smell and taste. Im really not sure how does the smell and taste came about, but if you do eat this kind of noodle, maybe you will know what i mean.

Nevertheless, i really LOVE the soy beancurd in Chee Kei (池記). The soy beancurd is smooth and soft. And they will have a little of this half MELTED brown sugar syrup poured over the beancurd.
Resulting it being not too sweet, but enhanced the flavor of the plain beancurd.

Last but not least, my supper for the day after some shopping
at MongKok.

Chocolate Soyabean Milk + Fried Noodle from 7-Eleven
& Fruit cake from Maxim's Bakery (available at most MTR Stations).

The fried noodle really doesn't look nice when i bought it straight from the warmer in the convenience stall. However, the taste turned out to be surprisingly well and the noodles are not soggy as it seems to be. (Can try if you are hungry at night for light supper.)

The Chocolate Vitasoy became one of my favourite drink in HK then. But now it's easily available in SG already.

Thats all for my day 3 in HK. :D

To be continued... ( Coming up next, Day 4 in HK (Tsui Wah Restaurant 翠華餐廳 + The Peak 山頂體驗
